The quarter-final brackets for Oktagon MMA’s Tipsport Gamechanger tournament have now been set, after the fighters took part in an in-person draw to determine the matchups in the last eight of the €1 million lightweight tournament.
Two first-round bouts are still to be contested, and they were set in the first and last positions in the draw, with the night’s winners from Oktagon 54 drawing lots to determine the order, then placing themselves in the tournament bracket in their preferred spot.
With the winner of the upcoming bout between Akonne Wanliss and Sahil Siraj occupying Slot 1 on the left side of the bracket, the fighter who had drawn the first lot, Spain’s Acoidan Duque, opted not to face the victor, instead choosing to be in Slot 1 of the right side of the bracket.
Former Oktagon lightweight champion Mateusz Legierski was up next, and he didn’t waste any time as he immediately paired himself with the winner of Wanliss/Siraj to set the first confirmed quarter-final on the bracket.
With former KSW champion Daniel Torres in the hospital following his victory, Oktagon welterweight Ion Surdu stepped in to represent him and, after consulting with Torres and his manager at the hospital, placed himself in Slot 4 on the right side of the bracket. He was immediately joined by Oktagon lightweight champion Ronald Paradeiser, who set up a mouthwatering clash with Torres for the second confirmed quarter-final.
Austrian contender Mochamed Machaev looked at the draw, pointed at Duque and said with a grin, “I’ll take him!” as he set the third confirmed matchup. That left Predrag Bogdanovic as the one remaining winner from the night, and he stepped into the final remaining matchup, in Slot 3 of the left side of the bracket.
He’ll face the winner of the upcoming bout between the final upcoming first-round matchup between Oktagon featherweight champion (and former lightweight champ) Losene Keita and former Cage Warriors champion Agy Sardari.
