Middleweight contenders are set to go head to head in Belfast, with former title challenger Fabian Edwards and Canadian contender Aaron Jeffery preparing to face off in a pivotal clash in Bellator’s 185-pound division.

MMA journalist John Morgan reported that Edwards vs. Jeffery is currently “in the works” for Bellator 302, which will take place on March 22 in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

It’s a matchup that could propel the winning towards a title fight against current champ Johnny Eblen, who is booked to face PFL light heavyweight champion Impa Kasanganay at the upcoming PFL Champs vs. Bellator Champs event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Edwards’ last outing saw him stopped with strikes by reigning champ Eblen at Bellator 299, but prior to that loss, “The Assassin” had won three in a row, defeating Lyoto Machida, Charlie Ward and Gegard Mousasi.

Jeffery, meanwhile, has won four of his last five. The start of that run saw him capture the CFFC middleweight title in January 2022 before a switch to Bellator resulted in back-to-back TKO victories over Fabio Aguiar and Austin Vanderford.

A loss to John Salter slowed Jeffery’s momentum, but he picked up the pace again with a unanimous decision victory over Dalton Rosta at Bellator 298 last August.
