Alex Lohore’s arrival in the Brave CF super welterweight division has drawn plenty of attention, including from divisional rival Eliezer Kubanza, who has issued a strong warning about what he thinks will happen if the pair ever meet inside the Brave CF cage.
Kubanza has made no secret of his desire to face “Da Killa King,” but his fiery callout was met with indifference by Lohore, who showed little interest in facing “King Kong”.
Lohore had initially called out the entire super welterweight division following his signing to the promotion earlier this year, as he recorded a video in his back garden “digging the graves” of his upcoming rivals.
His promotional debut then saw him matched with former super welterweight world champion Marcin Bandel. The Polish grappling ace was expected to produce a stern test for the former Cage Warriors, Oktagon and BAMMA star, but Lohore knocked him out inside the opening round of the main event of Brave CF 83 in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
That win immediately catapulted Lohore to the upper echelon of the promotion’s 175-pound division, with the Great Britain Top Team athlete within touching distance of a title shot after his first Brave CF performance.
And, after his attention-grabbing finish of Bandel, Lohore was asked to comment on Kubanza’s callout, and responded with a glib, “Eagles don’t fly with pigeons.”
Unsurprisingly, the Congolese contender was less than impressed with Lohore’s dismissive riposte, and stated that those doubting him will be left surprised and disappointed when the pair eventually meet in competition.
“What makes me more angry is the fact that some people still doubt me and think that I can’t beat Alex Lohore,” he said on his Instagram story.
“Now I have to go to war with myself, and once I step in, three minutes is going to be enough to end him.”
Both Kubanza and Lohore are determined to eventually fight for, and win, the super welterweight title, but with the undefeated 11-0 champion Kamal Magomedov sitting at the top of the division and awaiting his next challenger, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if we saw Lohore and Kubanza booked to face each other in a title eliminator later this summer, with an end-of-year title shot against Magomedov up for grabs for the winner.
