The town of Vysoke Tatry played host to the 2024 GAMMA European MMA and Striking MMA Championships, as the rising stars of mixed martial arts competed for medals in Slovakia.

The host nation celebrated three medals on finals day, with Michal Kuzma and Martin Koky claiming Striking MMA gold, while Kuzma and Adam Neupauer picked up silvers in MMA and Striking MMA, respectively as a packed week of competition came to a close with the tournament finals.

It proved to be a big day for Poland, as Iwo Baraniewski took the honours in the men’s -120.2kg division with a unanimous decision victory over Moldova’s Cristian Constantinov, while his teammates Maciej Strzelecki, Karolina Chlobuszewska, Pawel Grzeszczak and Krystyna Cholewa all claimed golds in the MMA championships.

There was a notable rivalry on the day, as Germany’s Lorena Cubero upset Czech favourite Natalie Trikalova to claim Striking MMA gold, only for Trikalova to turn the tables when they faced off in the MMA gold medal bout later in the afternoon.

And another repeat matchup saw Ukraine’s Maksym Mytsko face Latvia’s Farrukh Gafurov in the -56.7kg finals for both MMA and Striking MMA, with Mytsko claiming the gold in both matchups via submission and unanimous decision, respectively.
