Cage Warriors kickstarts its 2024 calendar with a show across the pond in San Diego, with an intriguing featherweight clash between two notable names.
Former UFC flyweight title challenger Wilson Reis has been campaigning at bantamweight in Cage Warriors, but now he’s stepping back up to 145 pounds for the first time since March 2022 as he takes on former Bellator veteran Toby Misech.
Both men could push themselves into the mix at 145 pounds with a win, and both ensured there were no slip-ups on the scale as they both arrived on weight and ready for their three-round headliner at the Sycuan Casino Resort.
Reis tipped the scale at 145.4 pounds for the matchup, while Misech hit the non-title featherweight limit of 146 pounds.
Also set for action is former two-division Cage Warriors champion Mason Jones, who has crossed the Atlantic looking to claim another significant win and position himself for a shot at the lightweight title he never lost in the cage.
He takes on Bryce Logan in the co-main event, and both men use all of their weight allowance, each hitting 156 pounds on the nose for their non-title fight.
The only fighter to miss his mark on the scale was welterweight Devin Goodale, who came in at 173.4 pounds – 2.4 pounds over the limit – for his bout against Bobby Winther. Goodale was fined 20 percent of his purse by the California State Athletic Commission and the bout will proceed as a catchweight bout.
One fight was also pulled from the card after Chase Eskam was forced out of the event on medical grounds, meaning his scheduled 195-pound catchweight bout with Ilias Faquiri was unfortunately cancelled.
